Job Details:
Summary: Responsible for safe efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and distribution equipment. Case cart management.
Job Responsibilities: Supports department initiatives to meet productivity standard and flexible staffing needs. Demonstrates understanding on proper handling of equipment, instrumentation, chemicals, performs preventative maintenance, observes personal protective equipment standards in decontamination process. Scans, sorts, inspects and assembles instruments by instrument list, wraps and labels as documented in procedure. Monitors and controls the issue of supplies and equipment. Performs record keeping. Other duties as assigned.
Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience: One (1) year health care experience preferred or similar background in mechanical/manufacturing assembly. Computer skills, medical terminology, strong communication, interpersonal and customer focus service skills.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: None
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform duties while standing, sitting, stooping, and reaching for long periods of time; ability to lift up to 25 pounds on a continual basis; ability to push, pull, and navigate carts weighing up to 200 pounds and manual dexterity sufficient to perform the basic functions of the job; exposure to environments of bacterial and viral contamination, and possible exposure to sterilization gases.
