Job Details:
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Safety and Security Department.
Job Responsibilities: Supervises the activities of personnel in the Security Department. Conducts performance evaluations and disciplinary actions. Makes recommendations to hire or terminate employment of subordinates. Develops and reviews policies and procedures for compliance purposes. Maintains and develops documentation to adhere to regulatory compliance. Ensures that proper Performance Improvement indicators are chosen annually and reported monthly. Assists with completion of the Hazard Vulnerability Analysis and with the development, implementation, analysis and maintenance of the Emergency Operations Plan. Represents the organization at planning meetings with city, county, and regional agencies. Provides direction and training to the security supervisors and acts as a training officer for all department personnel. Other duties as assigned.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Licensure/ Certification/Registration: OPOTA (Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy), security officer certificate, or equivalent public safety certification within six months of hire required for some positions. IAHSS Basic Officer Certification within 120 days of hire and IAHSS supervisor certification within 12 months of hire. Valid drivers' license with no more than four points.
Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Required Experience: Five years supervisory experience in safety and security. Training and development experience preferred. Experience in a hospital setting is also preferred.
