GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the guidance and direction of the Director, the individual is skilled in the application of the Endoscopic nursing modalities for patients undergoing Endoscopy procedures. Supports the philosophy of Cleveland Clinic Hospital and the Endoscopy Unit.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum: Current Florida Registered Nurse License: Current BLS and ACLS provider card
Preferred: Graduate of approved RN program; SGNA member
B. Required Length and Type of Experience
Minimum one year experience in an acute care hospital setting; Prefer six months minimum in Endoscopy
C. Required Licensure, Certification or Registry
Minimum: Current Florida Registered Nurse License: Current BLS and ACLS certification required.
Preferred: Graduate of approved RN program; SGNA member
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Meets and tries to exceed the needs of all patients; 100% patient satisfaction
2.
Works with team members to improve customer satisfaction;
3.
Demonstrates flexibility/adaptability to work-process changes;
4.
Makes appropriate decisions and actions to solve problems
5.
Looks for cost saving ideas; makes full use of resources;

Meets/exceeds expectations for volume, timeliness and quality
8.
Skill in physiological/psychological/social assessment as evidenced by documentation
9.
Formulates plan of care with respect to initial assessment, discharge planning

Address safety issues via incident report; Complies with safety standards
11.
Problem solves potential patient safety concerns with staff, patient, and family members
12.
Provides medications, IV solutions within prescribed practice/guidelines (5 rights)
13.
Accurate completion of documentation on patient records

Accurate completion of data collection forms

Utilizes opportunity for teaching to team members, patients and family
16.
Appropriately documents differences in approaches to care among the age groups
17.
Speaks slowly, using clear and simple terms, to explain procedures

Supports Performance Improvement activities through documentation record

Provides patient education as evidenced by the discharge record/documentation
22.
Provides discharge education based on pt condition, treatment, and care goals

Utilizes appropriate communication skill, based on the pts developmental skills

Assures that pt and family receives periodic status of physician/procedure delays
25.
Exercises caution in handling equipment to minimize the need for repairs
26.
Assures that equipment is stored to proper location after use
27.
Prepares and labels specimens according to departmental/hospital policy
28.
Initiates repair call for malfunctioning equipment
29.
Keeps procedure rooms stocked and supplies readily available
30.
Properly cleans and disinfects endoscopes and supplies
31.
Prepares accurate and legible documentation, including charge records
32.
Assists in preparing pt for procedures to keep schedule flowing
33.
Provides direct pt care/MD assistance with demonstrated competency in all GI areas
34.
Utilizes appropriate problem solving skills
35.
Observes and reports and safety issues to the Director
36.
Collaborates with the Director to assure appropriate staff coverage based on pt census
37.
Adheres to infection control guidelines and practices
