Job Details:
GENERAL SUMMARY: Performs decontamination, inspection, disassembly and assembly of all types of medical & surgical instrumentation. Performs and monitors all types of sterilization processes. Monitors quality assurance program to ensure standards are met. Performs case pull functions. Performs record keeping functions i.e. processing, sterilization, quality assurance, etc. Performs ordering, stocking, and inventory control functions. Participates in in-service education. Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to work independently. Ability to accurately perform multiple tasks simultaneously and meet multiple demands. High school diploma or equivalent. Able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing. Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and nomenclature of items and equipment used by the department. Knowledgeable with cleaning and sterilization procedures and techniques. Thorough understanding of the various functions of the department. Conscientious regard for technical and minute procedures.
Experience: Six months experience within the Surgical Processing, Sterile Processing, or operating room environment or one year experience outside CCHS required within these related areas, or successful completion of a recognized training program and certification or certification eligibility may substitute for up to three months experience.
Licensure, Certification or Registry: Successful completion from a recognized training program, with certification as a Sterile Processing Technician or Central Service Technician is required or completion of certification within one year of being hired. Certification must be maintained throughout course of employment.
