Job Details: - Masters Degree Required
Summary: Creates anatomical / surgical Illustrations for books, journals and multimedia presentations in traditional / Digital formats. Files / archives completed works within the standards established by the department.
Job Responsibilities: Consults with Professional Staff/ client to ascertain format issues needed to communicate a new idea, procedure or concept. Researches the specifics of the project through direct observation or reviewing current topics through reading of operative notes, WEB searches or reading current publications on the topic. Prepares for client review preliminary sketches resulting from thorough research to determine accuracy. Revise as needed. Renders original intellectual properties in prescribed format for reproduction and or presentation in any/ all formats. Other duties as assigned.
Education: Master's (MFA) Degree in Medical illustration, preferably from an AMI accredited program.
Experience: Two years experience in the environment to include all phases of Medical Illustration for print and multimedia. A Bachelor's Degree (BFA) and four years of experience may substitute for the MFA or Active "Professional Member" of the Association of Medical Illustrators (AMI) and five years practical experience or "Certified Medical Illustrator" of the Association of Medical Illustrators and two years of practical experience may substitute for the Master's Degree. Proficient in various media/software such as Illustrator and Photoshop. Portfolio required.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: None
Physical Requirements: Manual dexterity to operate Computer workstation and ancillary equipment. Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision to perceive and differentiate color, hue, saturation and tones.
