Summary: Serves as expert with regard to Division/Institute coding, billing, and reimbursement and as a resource to Institute leadership, department management, and providers. Serves as liaison between Division/Institute and Cleveland Clinic departments. Job Responsibilities: Supervises Institute business office personnel. Performs selection, placement, and performance evaluation. Develops work standards and quality assurance measurements for each position in order to meet established goals. Develops, maintains, and improves charge capture systems, ensuring timeliness and accuracy of charge capture. Assures the consistency and accuracy of Institute's charge master files. Develops or updates policies and procedures for billing and reimbursement activities. Summarizes data, monitors trends, analyzes results, and solves problems pertaining to billing and reimbursement activities. In conjunction with Corporate Compliance and Clinical Affairs, interprets and implements policies and procedures as mandated by governmental agencies. Oversees monitoring process and works with Clinical Affairs to provide feedback and education to providers. Develops, maintains, and reports on all aspects of billing compliance within the Institute. Presents reports to relevant committees. With physician leadership, manages Institute billing compliance committee. Develops and conducts Institute-specific education and training for new providers and business office personnel. Assesses job-specific competencies. Leads ongoing Institute-specific education and training efforts. Other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in related area or equivalent experience.

Experience: Minimum three years experience with CPT/ICD professional coding, medical billing and reimbursement.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Certification from an established professional coding association.

Physical Requirements: Manual dexterity to operate office equipment. Ability to lift and transport up to 15 pounds. May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting. Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision.
