Summary: Responsible and accountable for the management, monitoring and education of research compliance in divisions and departments and the management, evaluation and development of systems that ensure compliance with federal and non-federal rules and regulations. Oversees the collection and analysis of data from various sources and reports to the appropriate individual, division, or committee.

Job Responsibilities: Reports on a regular basis to Executive Director, Academic Affairs on compliance matters. Serves as research's key resource person for regulatory and compliance matters related to sponsored and non-sponsored research projects. Develops and coordinates educational programs on compliance training. Present workshops on compliance issues and topics to Staff, Division/Department Administration and research personnel. Participates in the initiation of policies and procedures for research compliance. As part of a multi-Division/department team, shares in the planning and program implementation responsibilities of Research Compliance. Participates with Research Accounting in the annual A-133 audit of federally funded grants and contracts, working with Cleveland Clinic's external auditors to minimize adverse findings. Participates as needed in audits conducted by outside funding agencies. Provides leadership and direction to a team of five (5) Academic Affairs Compliance Specialists assigned to 1) Cardiovascular Medicine, 2) Division of Medicine, 3) Division of Surgery, 4) Cancer Center Division, or 5) All Other Clinical Divisions. Sets and monitors team goals, objectives and long-range plans. Initiates changes in team policies and procedures, and monitors implementation. Develops, enhances and/or provides educational programs and opportunities to benefit the team. Other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Advanced degree preferred. Experience: Minimum five years of professional grant/sponsored research administration experience in a research environment, academic setting, and/or a related non-profit field, including supervisory responsibilities.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: None.

Physical Requirements: Typical physical demands include a high degree of dexterity to produce materials on a PC or word processor, normal or corrected vision, extensive sitting and frequent walking, occasional lifting or carrying of 5 to 15 pounds.
