Job Title

Shift Trainer- 3rd Shift (Nights)

Summary The Shift Trainer is responsible for the training of all employees in the Inspection Operator position, both new hires and current employees. The Shift trainer teaches all processes and tasks that need to be learned by anyone in the Inspection Operator position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Train all new operators in 2-week training program
• Ongoing training of current employees
      o Job-specific
      o Scan gun
      o IQMS
      o Thogus processes
• Demonstrates production technique and examines the work performed by the trainee to determine progress and ability to conform to quality and production standards.
• Basic understanding of supervisor roles and responsibilities in order to act as backup supervisor when needed
• Ability to assist with training in other departments
• Report to Continuous Improvement Manager for training-related responsibilities
• Coordinates all training activities with shift supervisor to minimize production interruptions or delays.
• When needed will fill in as operator (breaks, lunches, short-staffed)
Supervisory Responsibilities                     
• Directly supervises 1-3 employees (trainees) on the Floor.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in Supervisors absence accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
• Responsibilities include:
     o Training employees
     o Planning, Assigning, and Directing work
     o Appraising performance
     o Rewarding and disciplining employees
     o Addressing complaints and resolving problems.

• Proficient with IQMS and scan gun navigation
Education and/or Experience                     
• A High School Diploma or GED required
• One to three (3) years related experience and/or training; or
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Training experience required

• Manufacturing or Plastics experience preferred

Valid Driver's License required

Language Skills                     

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
• Ability to write  reports and correspondence.
•  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills                     
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. 
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability                     
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills                     
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of:
• Database and Inventory software (IQMS preferred)
• Internet software
• Microsoft Office software
