Job Details: - Masters Degree Preferred
Clinical Nurse Specialist focusing on geriatric psychiatry in Long Term Care. Psychiatric consultant to select long term care facilities. Regularly and systematically develop and execute advanced and individualized care to select patients, families, and caregivers with complex needs in long term care environment. Assessing, diagnosing and treating cognitive decline and mental illness in elderly. Have prescriptive privileges/collaboration with psychiatrist and a team of geriatricians and nurse practitioners. Must be willing to travel and will visit several skilled nursing facilities and work with nursing home staff to assess, consult and treat the patient. The successful candidate must work autonomously and be flexible and available to the facilities when needed. Primarily an 8:30 to 5:00 position, weekdays, no call schedule and no holidays.
JOB SUMMARY:
Provides advanced care, consultation, research, management and education in a specific clinical area.
Job Responsibilities: Provides advanced direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. Serves as an expert consultant for staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, and professional development. Contributes to defining, directing and evaluating the nursing care and functions of clinical staff. Manages clinical research projects in support of evidence-based practice and disseminates findings. Develops, implements and evaluates educational plans/programs and utilizes methods, measurements and
tools to evaluate achievement of learning goals.
Other duties as assigned.
Education: Master's Degree in Nursing.
Current licensure as an Registered Nurse (RN), Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider required.
Certification in specialty, if available, preferred. Certificate to Prescribe (CTP) is preferred.
Registration:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be
able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Complexity of Work:
Personal Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Two years clinical nursing experience required.
