Job Details: - High School Diploma or equivalent Required.
This position is located at the Cleveland Clinic Avon Family Health Center in the Emergency Department.
This position will work Thursday through Monday 1st Shift with varied hours
Prefer candidates with inpatient or hospital pharmacy skills
Summary: Assists in the preparation of sterile products including but not limited to: antibiotics, antineoplastics, large volume parenterals, pain medications and sterile ophthalmic preparations. Maintains required records and documentation. Coordinates the efficient operation of the clean room. Job Responsibilities: Accurately assembles appropriate supplies necessary for sterile product preparation. Aseptically prepares all sterile admixtures. Prioritizes IV medication production appropriately. Appropriately handles hazardous medications. Assists in preparation of investigational medication products. Appropriately disposes IV waste. Maintains cleanliness of IV work surface or laminar flow hood. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: High School Diploma or GED. Strong background in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics (normally attained through coursework beyond high school) sufficient to understand pharmaceutical terminology.
Experience: Successful completion of Pharmacy Technician I or a minimum of one year of experience in pharmacy sterile product production.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform the job while standing, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, compounding, and IV functions of the job; ability to lift up to 25 pounds while walking, stooping, bending and reaching; ability to transport 240 pounds cart.
