Summary:
Responsible for the daily operational and administrative activities of the Security Department.
Job Responsibilities:
Implements, directs, and monitors all aspects of the security program. Implements or provides for the implementation of the organization's safety management plan. Develops or assists with the development of security policies, procedures, and programs. Coordinates and communicates security activities internally and externally, including with local, state, federal law enforcement agencies and with regulatory agencies. Participates in the preparation of annual operating and capital budget requests and manpower planning. Mentors and coaches staff in all areas of responsibilities. Determines shift assignments. Develops staff competencies with training sessions. Selects or assists with the appointment of security officers as supervisors. Other duties as assigned.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Experience:
Experience must include a minimum of 5 years of full time management or supervisory experience in a law enforcement or security field and 2 of those 5 years with Cleveland Clinic Police Department. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Completion of Ohio Peace Officer Training Council (OPOTC) training. Must possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License (VDL), insurability, and qualify and maintain appropriate firearm score.

Physical Requirements:
Psychological fitness required to deal with stress and potentially dangerous conflict situations, and due to firearm requirement, use of deadly force and arrest authority. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills required to prepare and evaluate reports, interface with employees, and provide accurate feedback and testimony. Typical physical demands require full body motion, physical strength and stamina sufficient to chase, apprehend, and subdue criminal suspects. To respond to crisis intervention with assisting medical staff in restraining combative patients and assist in medical situations and emergencies. Requires extensive walking and standing for prolonged periods of time. Must have good eye/hand coordination and pass a required eye and hearing test. Strong analytical skills to coordinate investigations, evaluate information and evidence and translate these for defense or prosecution or other criminal justice procedures.
