Job Details:
The Emergency Department Technician is an associate that performs duties to help promote comfort and provide assistance to the nursing staff. The member is directly responsible for the completion of delegated duties and responsibilities as a part of the patient care team. The Emergency Department Technician transports patients by wheelchair, bed or stretcher to and from the department and nursing units under the direct supervision of an RN. The member would perform the functions of a certified Nurse Assistant to help promote patient comfort for all age classifications of patients including pediatrics, adolescents; young adults; middle adults; and the elderly. The Emergency Department Technician provides assistance to the nursing staff as well as performing EKG, inserting peripheral intravenous saline locks using universal precautions and phlebotomy responsibilities as directed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent and graduate of approved program for Nursing assistants or previous hospital training or experience. Current BLS Certification.
Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant
B. Required Length and Type of Experience
A minimum of six months experience in an acute care hospital setting is recommended.
C. Required Licensure, Certification or Registry
Level I Tech: BLS provider card; EMT Florida certified and ACLS preferred
Level II Tech: BLS/ACLS provider card; Paramedic Florida Certified
