Job Details: Summary: Coordinates and monitors inventory control function. Coordinates and controls supply for specialty units.Performs administrative functions related to inventory and distribution. Provides a resource to physicians and Lab nursing staff regarding special supply requirements. Participates in the planning and implementation of new procedures, policies and systems. Performs Lab stocking functions.

Job Responsibilities: Monitors periodic inventory reports including reorder/minimum par levels, stock status, input registers,transaction logs, stock distributions, variance reports and historical statistics. Analyzes reports and resolves discrepancies; ensures all stock levels are maintained. Adjusts par levels based on stock usage and level analysis; ensures minimum stock is maintained and continues to meet cardiac procedure demands and schedule. Rotates stock and removes outdated items. Coordinates and controls the supplies needed for specialty units. Coordinates inventory and supply functions with the Lab nursing staff; determines and adjusts par levels for specialty components; purchases supply components directly from vendors, assigns purchase order number and completes requisitions. Coordinates purchases with Buyer, ensures purchase data is up-to-date. Coordinates computer input and verifies data for accuracy. Performs administrative functions related to Lab inventory and distribution. Resolves shipping and receiving issues directly with vendors and carriers and coordinates with main storeroom. Verifies accuracy of receipts, orders filled, vendor audits, quantity and price; coordinates processing of purchase orders, accounts payable and returns. Performs inventory control functions.Reviews inventory records and reconciles to physical stock; determines appropriateness of alternate manufacturers and types of surgical components. Researches and maintains alternate sources of required and critical items; researches and reviews with the Proceduralists and Nurses potential alternate products that are more cost effective and still meet patient care needs. Performs periodic physical inventories for all areas of the Lab; performs inventory of specialty implants, equipment, instrumentation,etc. Other duties as assigned.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Minimum one (1) year previous experience in an operating room inventory control or closely related function. Experience with general and specialized surgical supplies and instrumentation. Knowledge of par levels, purchasing function and inventory analysis beneficial. Minimum of three (3) years' experience in inventory control function with responsibility for par levels, purchasing functions, inventory analysis, and usage trends is required in the absence of O.R. Surgical Supply experience. On -the-Job Training: Three months on-the-job training required to learn specialized supply components, inventory systems, and departmental policies and procedures.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: None required.

Physical Requirements: Manual dexterity to operate office equipment. May require periods of sitting, standing and the ability to walk to various locations throughout the health system to attend meetings. Must have normal or corrected vision and be able to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person. Must have own transportation due to travel to multiple sites. Ability to lift materials weighing up to 30 pounds and to perform duties while walking, standing, stooping and lifting.
