Job Details: Summary: Provide comprehensive nursing oversight of the management of the oncology patient to ensure high quality care and patient safety. Job Responsibilities: Provides comprehensive patient care by serving as primary point person to diseminate relevant and accurate communication to patients and families regarding the treatment plan, resources and supports available and in compliance with the Commission on Cancer Standards. Identifies physical, psychosocial and safety needs of the patient, performs accurate nursing assessments, identifies and prioritizes patient problems. Provides patient and family education as needed regarding chemotherapy, radidation and symptom management. Provides opportunities for program improvement and assists with implementing programs to improve quality scores and patient outcomes within the Cancer Institute. Education: Completion of a recognized course of study from an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred. Experience: Three to five years Oncology Nursing experience. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current state licensure as an Registered Nurse (RN). Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification. Physical Requirements: Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires frequent standing and walking. Requires normal or corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.
