Job Details: Summary: Plan, implement and evaluate blood management services for identified patient populations. Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary staff to attain high quality, cost-effective patient outcomes by establishing blood management as a standard of care. Job Responsibilities: Assist with the development of an enterprise program for blood management. Work collaboratively to identify opportunities for blood management interventions. Establish systems for identifying and treating anemic patients preoperatively (e.g. anemia clinics, standardized order sets). Identifies opportunities for blood management strategies (e.g. cell saver, pre-operative optimization, decreasing blood waste). Collaborates to implement strategies to optimize the appropriate use of blood products and blood product alternatives within defined patient populations. Evaluates the effectiveness of the blood management program in meeting established goals to achieve high quality, cost effective patient outcomes. Develops and provides ongoing educational opportunities for staff. Identifies learning needs, establishes goals; maintains current knowledge base and assists with providing education. Maintains professional growth and development in the field through ongoing education. Other duties as assigned. Education: Graduate of approved school of professional nursing. Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field preferred. Experience: Minimum 3 years experience required in medical-surgical nursing or critical care Licensure/Certification/Registration: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Ohio. Physical Requirements: Requires full range of body motion. Extended sitting, standing or walking. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 75 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
