THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN CHARLESTON, WV!!!!
Summary: Performs high complexity histocompatibility testing and related functions in multiple areas of the laboratory.
Job Responsibilities: Performs testing, quality control procedures, corrective action procedures and problem resolution. Completes set-up, monitoring and maintenance of equipment, instruments and reagents. Participates in the on-call rotation for deceased donor testing. Interacts with internal and external departments and institutions. Performs administrative functions; assists with resolving all specimen receiving or handling problems and incomplete or incorrect orders. Assists with the development, validation and implementation of new and/or revised procedures and protocols. Assists with training internal and external personnel. Adheres to the laboratory's quality control policies. Documents quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance activities. Follows the established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the established acceptable levels of performance. Other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in one of the chemical, physical or biological sciences or related field. Experience: One year of clinical laboratory testing. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Medical Technologist (MT) or Certified Histocompatibility Technologist (CHT) preferred.
Physical Requirements: Manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination and eye-hand steadiness and eyesight to use microscopes and distinguish red and green. Must be able to sit for one hour or more performing computer functions. Must be able to stand for several hours.
