MAMMOGRAPHY TECHNOLOGIST

Job Details:
Summary: Provides mammography screening, diagnostic and interventional procedures, and patient care services at defined levels to patients. Maintains patient safety Job Responsibilities: Reviews mammography requisition and computer exam forms to determine the type of exam required. Accurately positions patients, determines the exposure factors and operate mammography equipment according to established procedures to obtain a high quality image. Reviews processed imaged to determine quality and the need for additional images. Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and the exam to ensure understanding and cooperation. Ensure patients' safety and comfort during and after the exam. Knowledgeable in acquiring, archiving, transmitting, and printing images via CAD and PACS. When applicable, knowledgeable in after hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork. Immediately report any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator. Knowledgeable in billing via RIS. Assist with all policies and procedures required by local, state, and federal law. Assist with compliance or credentialing bodies (ACR, MQSA, Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, etc.) Assist with instrument calibration and records to ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements. Perform checks on equipment to assure proper function of equipment and notify clinical engineering of any equipment malfunctions. Ensure exam rooms are adequately supplied with linen and related medical supplies. Provide teaching/mentoring to new hires/students. Continually strives to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions. May be required to rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities, sites and/or locations. Perform other duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned.
Education: Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
Experience: Minimum one year experience as a General Radiologic Technologist preferred. Successful completion of 40 hours of mammography training. Experience with Digital Mammography is preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Must be a Registered Technologist (ARRT) and certified in Mammography (ARRT). State licensure if required by state law. CPR certification required.
Physical Requirements: Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
